Cumbia
Cumbia is one of the
most important dances in Argentina. It comes from Colombia, Mexico
and from differents regions of Argentina.
History:
The old Cumbia was from Africa,
whose root is the Cumbé , a popular dance in Guinea. It is
very popular in Panama, Venezuela, Peru and especially in Colombia, where
it is considerated the National Dance. It is played with typical
instruments as the rabel (rustic violin), la tambona and other indigenous
instruments; its rhythm is based in the performance of the drum.
Originally its choreography was based on some odd pairs of people that
mounted candles or torches on fire as offering to their companions.

Now Cumbia is very different
in Argentina. Here it is played with guitars, organs, accordions,
and trumpets. The different groups add a lot of variations of instruments.
The pubs and inns, in Saturday
nights the music that they pass more time is Cumbia. Cumbia is the
most popular, music you can listen and dance in every pub or inns, especially
on Saturday nights. The groups use to give recitals and everyone
enjoy a lot.
Now the most important groups
are La nueva Luna, Antonio Ríos, Green, Red, Trinidad, etc.
