Musical preferences in Brasil

The following texts were written by some of my seventh graders. Through them they inform a little bit about their musical preferences. 

Carla and Aline tell us that their favorite singers are Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and the bands Offspring and the Brazilian band "Jota Quest."

They will tell you about them: Brittney Spears is very beautiful and her songs are very cool. She dresses in a modern style, with platform boots. Mariah Carey is very beautiful, too; she's 29 and her best song at the moment is "Heartbreak." Offspring is cool, too. We like rock and the band fas four people. Jota Quest is a Brazilian group. Their music is so cool and energetic! We like it very much!

Lucas Santos: I like Brazilian music, Brazilian rock. I like Charlie Brown Jr. It's a band. Their songs are very nice and I like to hear them all the time in my bedroom. 

Luiza and Roberta: Our favorite group right now is "Los Hermanos." They sing a beautiful music, "Ana Julia." They have success very quickly. Our favorite singer is Mariah Carey and her latest clip is really cool. She's very beautiful and her music is loving.

Daniel Reschke: I like rock very much. Music is very important for me.

I like "Offspring", Metallica, Iron Maden and other bands. I don't like the rock singers. I think they are a bad example. Do you know any rock singers? I do not. I do not like "heavy metal" because it is hard music. I do not play any musical instrument. But I like music. I am not sure about classic music: do I like it or not? My sister likes rock and light music, too. I like the Rolling Stones. Their music is very good and it's my style. It's light rock. My parents like classic music. 

Henrique and Murillo: We like hard rock and hip-hop. We don't like classical music. We like Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Aerosmith and many other bands. Planet Hemp group from Brazil is a group we enjoy. We also like many other English bands.

Fernanda, Juliana and Mariana like Patu Fu. He's their favorite singer. His songs and her CDs are very energetic and this group makes a lot of energetic scenes with lots of people.

Julia Witt: I like many types of music.

Music is very nice. Music makes people happy, makes parties... Amuses the spirit. Music has old origins. One type of music I don't like is Axé Music. I used to like it but not today. But two types of music I love: Pop and Rock. One band that I listen to is "Acústicos e Valvulados," They have a very nice music style. Other bands I listen to are "Paralamas do Sucesso," "Jota Quest" and "Legião Urbana."

I play the flute, the guitar and keyboards. 

Pedro De Bem and João Victor: "We like punk rock and old rock very much. We like the Beatles, Sex Pistols and Jimmi Hendrix. We like them because their sound is so cool! Music is very important for us.
