Life without Music
I would like to respond to how
music effects me in my life. I've never been very picky about the kind
of music I listen to. I have grown up with music always being in the home,
whether from tapes, CD's, or more often than not, my mother singing! That
is one aspect of my childhood I will never forget- hearing my mother's
voice filling the house! I remember listening to stories she would tell
me about how she would always be asked to sing for her classmates, then
later for passengers when she grew up and had her first job as a tour-bus
stewardess. I've always been amazed at her confidence in singing and grateful
that she has carried her talent into the home.
I remember being taught songs
from the time I began to speak, whether they were silly songs from rhymes
or simple Thai songs. Growing up with my 4 other siblings, we've had plenty
of opportunities to perform for others. Especially in the past few years,
my sister and I have been asked to perform duets together, usually for
church-related activities, and its always been so much fun. I think music
has a way of bringing harmony into the home, and I know for me at least,
it has helped bring my family closer together.
Music brings a special spirit
with it that can help lift others- I know when I've been in a bad mood,
or have just had a bad day, that if i listen to some soothing music, in
no time I really feel so much better. I'm truly thankful for music.
Life without music just would
not be the same.
