Noel Christina

Noel came into our lives by accident, well we thought so but we always wondered if it wasn’t some form of higher planning that brought her into our lives.

It was Christmas week. I was working with a lady that was a great pet lover and when she found the little black and white cat in the parking lot she brought her into the office. The cat took over, she found a chair to her liking and took it as her own. She didn’t seem to be afraid of all the people that walked in and out of the office, in fact she seem to love watching them as they went about their jobs. At the end of the day her new friend took her back to the parking lot so she could go home. The cat walked off and we all thought she was on her way home after having a new adventure.

The next day was Christmas Eve, and all of us were hurrying to get our work done in hopes of going home early. At lunch we went to the door to go out and there was the cat again. She was an outside cat, it was very obvious that she didn’t live in a home, but she walked through the open door and when directly to the office where she had sat in honor the day before. Now it was decided she was lost and someone would have to take her home. Somehow I was elected. A cat carrier was found at a nearby home and donated for the trip to my house.

I agreed to keep her “just until her owners were found”. Home she went in the carrier. Lady Susitna, the British Spaniel, greeted me loudly at the door as usual and I waited for the cat to hiss or something. NOTHING! I looked in the carrier - she was washing her paw like it was an everyday thing to be greeted by a noisy dog. We started calling her Noel Christina - Nosey for short - and - no we never found her family.

We took her to the vet about two weeks later for her shots and to see about having her spayed. That is when we got the terrible news - Noel had Feline Leukemia - she would not be with us long but we had promised to care for her and so we set out to find ways to make her life better. We gave her a food supplement, and were very careful about what chemicals were used around her. See Holistic Care for Cats
She remained with us for two years.

Why had we been chosen? Well she taught us patience, hope, what true friendship was, and gave us lots of love. She played with Lady and was a good friend to her too.

We know that Noel is waiting at Rainbow Bridge with our other pets. She is probably still teaching love and hope. That would be so like our little Nosey.

We proudly display this award from our dear Ms. Editor
