For the duckies.
DH built that temporary shelter today out of a wooden box, 2 storm doors laying on their sides, a warped piece of plywood for a floor and another with a hole in it for the end. I'll put in a board for ramps when I want them to go in or out. We rigged an old desk lamp in the box and I lined the floor with newspaper and lots of grass clippings. They seem quite content. I just checked in on them and threw an old sheet over the top to help hold the heat of the lamp inside.
I also had them outside since it was warm and sunny enough and they had a grand time rooting in the dirt, nibbling dandelions and grass seed heads and splashing in the shallow pool created by a culvert draining excess water under the trail. I am hoping that one of these days they will actually try swimming.
