A lot of stuff has gone on in the 2 weeks I haven't been blogging. I entertained my brother and mom, we went out to dinner twice and did some sight seeing just in the general area, no big event types of thing. My brother found an antique mall with some used books and picked up a couple first editions. We watched the Red Sox/Tigers games on TV. GO BOSOX!!!!
Played with pups and ducks and I took my brother kayaking twice. He fell in the first time (his first time in a kayak ever) when his boat nosed into the bank faster than he could figure out how to turn back into the current. He flipped and got very wet. The river was about 4 feet deep there, a little bottle neck between the shore and a mini island which accelerated the water. No one saw it happen, I went to the other side of the island and Uncle Butch was in front of him, but he went back to find him when he didn't appear at the other end.
But that was the last 2 weeks, today is my birthday. I am not 39. I am older, whether I am wiser is debatable. I took the ducklings out for another "splash around" today, and Luna and Rocket were both with me this time. They did not try to molest the ducks though if I wasn't there it might have been a different story.
It's amazing how fast the ducklings are growing! I haven't had them quite 2 weeks and as you can see from the pictures they've tripled in size. Supposedly by the end of 3 weeks pin feathers will start to appear and in the runner ducks their wings have already lost some fluff. I'll post several photos to show their growth stages. The ducklings seem quite content in their temporary shelter, I sometimes catch them looking at their reflections.
I didn't go kayaking today, we decided the clouds were too thick and as I am trying to get DH interested in this as a favorite pastime, I'm trying to get things just right. Hopefully, it will be blue skies tomorrow and he'll get to use my boat with the comfy seat. Then my neighbors are taking us out to dinner for my birthday. A Mexican style restaurant I haven't been to yet which is pretty near to the place we'll be landing.
