Hay Fever Season is Upon Me Again

It was 49 degrees this morning! That's what a cold north wind can do even in June up here in the swamps of Michigan. The pups like it though, much better than the nearly stifling heat and humidity we've been having.

Hay fever season is in full swing too and I am eating OTC allergy pills every day to keep it mostly at bay. Alas, until the first hay is cut around here I'll be suffering from itchy eyes, scratchy throat and other annoying symptoms for at least another month. Not even living in the swamp helps completely, but it's better than living in the middle of the farming sections of the area. Been there, done that in Virginia where my eyes would swell shut if I left the comfy conditioned air of my house. Not even the rain we had all last night helped. The pollen is out there and waiting for me. Even poor Rocket is allergic, his nose has run all summer since he was a puppy. Luna seems to be better off, lucky little lady!

Too bad for me that those fancy pills like Allegra, Claritin and Zyrtec do nothing for my symptoms, I may as well be taking sugar pills. Instead I get by with the generic version of Benedryl. Also, I have a generic OTC eye drop that helps for a few hours because rubbing my eyes certainly only makes things worse.

So until July 4th I'll just tough it out. By then most farmers have made the first cutting. Then I can enjoy barbecue!
