The ducklings are fine. They spent the entire night on the pond. Rocket and Luna also spent the night outside, till 5:15 anyway and did a lot of howling and barking for the first hour at who knows what. I managed to get some sleep once the dogs got quiet but it would have been nice if I could sleep another hour or two. Unfortunately the sun had risen and I find it hard to sleep in daylight even with an eye mask. I've put out a pan of duck food and the pups are inside.

It's also another beautiful day, I'm going kayaking on the river while the ducks swim around on their pond. I'm certainly not going in after them and stuff them in the garage this time of day anyway. The pups will be here in the yard behind the closed gate so they can bark at bad creatures that could show up but as the pond is outside the fence that's about all they can do. Fortunately daylight is a lot safer than night. I wonder if I can corral them tonight after dinner before they head into the pond. I couldn't catch them last night, they were already in the water before I could race downstairs and out the door.
