Rocket and Luna
Autumn 2005

Michigan Mud Puppies
Two labs, a few ducks and 2 humans living the good life in the cedar swamps of Michigan!
Rawhide! (keep those doggies rollin')

At 9 am it was still -4 f. But that didn't faze Rocket and Luna who bolted out the door, across the deck, down the stairs and off somewhere into the swamp. About 30 minutes later they were back, Luna holding a large rawhide roll that looked suspiciously like the ones I had given her and Rocket last week. He had eaten his in 30 minutes but hers seemed to vanish. Apparently she had hidden it. Now she was gloriously running around Rocket showing off her find. Rocket looked very dejected since he didn't have one.

I called them up the stairs and gave Rocket a smaller woven one and together they went back down the stairs to lay in the snow packed driveway and commenced chewing. Well Rocket chewed, Luna kept dancing around flinging it into the air. I called them back in the house 30 minutes later since I really don't know how long they should be allowed out there in that cold, plus I didn't want Rocket to eat another whole one all at once. I traded a biscuit for each when they came in.

After breakfast we walked up to the post office, (the temperature was already up to a toasty 10 f) and then back home to get Yogi for our daily walk. Rocket is still there for his afternoon snooze and Luna is home with me. I gave her back the rawhide while I put out some suet for the birds, and she came back empty jawed. I assume she hid it until later when she can show it off in front of Rocket again. She'd better hope some other animal doesn't find it first and wander away with it.
