Just Stuff

"Stuff" is such a great word, it can mean so much. Let's do stuff, let's make stuff, let's go get some stuff. Of course, in some locales it is used in other ways, in a verb as opposed to noun-ish kind of way, that I won't mention here because at the moment this is still a family friendly blog. But I wasn't intending to talk about what a great word "stuff" was, just what kind of stuff I've been doing.

Today I dropped the pups next door and I went with Yogi's "parents" to town to do some shopping. It's fun sometimes to not go alone. We hit the usual hot spots: Wal-Mart, Save-a-Lot, Neiman's Family Market, Dollar General. We also went to a vacuum repair/bike shop to pick up a couple belts for a Kirby they own, and I sat on a shiny red Schwinn bike. It reminded me of my bike when I was 14.

I do have a bike, one I bought about 20 years ago but the last couple times I tried to ride it I felt very wobbly. I even bought a helmet in case fear of breaking my head open had anything to do with it but I still wobbled. I do believe I need a smaller bike if I want to ride again. But I don't have $390 plus tax to spare right now. It sure was pretty though!

Before we left for home we also hit Gordon's Food Service, which is a bulk food/restaurant supply kind of place and then Dunkin' Donuts to get munchies for our weekly Thursday Coffee Klatches.

I walked the dogs again when we got back (I walked them before we left this morning). DH drove his SUV over to pick up my stuff because right now it's not a good idea for anyone without 4 wheel drive to try to navigate our driveway. (It's 1/4 mile long, down a steep hill, curved and snow packed.)

The weather is trying to warm up, high 20's today and sunny. It's possible we may get into the 40s this weekend. Some melting would be nice, with the temps still fairly cold I've got some impressive icicles hanging from the house gutters. There are also some really impressive mounds of snow on the back deck and just off the front deck making it a little hard getting to the bird feeders.

I made Spanish Rice for dinner which really isn't all that Spanish, it's an old Americanized meat and rice and tomato dish that I did add some cilantro and paprika to help liven it up a bit. It was easy, fast and tasty since I was gone all day (it's a 45 minute drive into town) and didn't have the time or inclination to create something fancier.
