Friday I'm having surgery on my sinuses. Something called FESS, the abbreviation for a long phrase which at the moment eludes me. I believe endoscopic is the E. Suffice to say the doctor is heading up my left nostril with a tiny scalpel or some such cutting implement and making my nasal passages wider on that side so I can breathe more easily. He's also unblocking the sinus cavity in my cheek that for the past 3 years has harbored quite a few nasty infections. Call it a roto-rooting of my nose.
It is possible my symptoms will be alleviated 90%. I will be ecstatic with 50%. Having painful infections in your face for months at a time every year is not a lot of fun. The surgery is supposed to take about 2 hours, and I go home the same day. What's also nice is that I don't have to be at the hospital till 10:15 am so I can sleep late, assuming I can sleep at all.
In the meantime I have stuffed mushrooms baking in the oven, baked potatoes doing their thing and a nice whitefish ready to saute for supper. There will also be broccoli. Alas no wine, since it's bad for anesthetics. Ah, the mushrooms are beeping. I must go for now.
