This
is Pumpkin, the newest member of our family. He is a stray kitty that was
living under an empty trailer that is on a lot behind our house. One evening
I was outside calling Russell and I heard this pitiful crying. I followed
the sound to the back yard fence and saw him sitting at the edge of that
trailer. At first I thought he was tied somehow or something but then he
came to me when I called. I threw some cat food over the fence and he quickly
gobbled it up. The next evening, he was still there, crying again and starving.
A couple of days later when he was still there, I decided to reach over
the fence and pull him over to our side since he wouldn't jump over. When
I pulled him over, he didn't scratch me and he ran under our house. Later
on that night I coaxed him out and fed him and realized he was declawed.
I figured he or she was probably altered as well. I fed him when I could
coax him out from under our house, but when Russell started beating him
up a few days later, I decided a decision had to be made. He was so sweet
and reminded me a lot of Boogie Bear and Tygie, so I decided to adopt him.
We took him to the vet and had tests done to be sure he didn't have anything
that he could pass on to Isis. We also had the absess on his leg drained
and they gave him antibiotics for that. When his tests came back negative
on aids, leukemia and FIP, we got him a full round of shots and now he is
slowly being introduced to the little black princess. So far Isis doesn't
see much benefit in having a little brother. hehe We found out from the
vet that Pumpkin is approximately 5 to 6 years old, a male and he has been
neutered and declawed. He currently weighs 8.8lbs which is an improvement
over the 6lbs that he weighed when he first came up. He has been an inside
kitty for one week as of June 12,2004 and the vet says he will probably
gain a pound a month for a bit. He is a very big boy and should weigh around
12lbs. Right now he is trying to make up for lost time though and eats like
a little pig. We are giving him vitamins and good quality can and dry food.
As you can see from the picture, he is a happy boy. Well, that is the story
of Pumpkin so far. He & Isis are not living together at the moment but
are gradually being introduced. Wish us luck! More updates will follow...
Pumpkin on June 12,2004. He has
had a bath and had Frontline put on him earlier in the day.

This is Pumpkin when he first came
to us.
