FALL GREETINGS FROM EMMA
Summer is over, but don't despair!
There is still plenty of entertainment
right outside your window,
and you have a cozy front row seat!
Your favorite shows,
"Butterfly Bonanza" and "Moth Mania"have been replaced by "Squirrel Shenanigans"! This is one of the finest
acrobatic performances you'll ever see!
And, if you're lucky enough to be allowed outside
(on a harness of course)
you may get to see them "up close and in person"!
I like to make myself as comfortable as possible-
right smack in the middle of their food.
I figure if they're that hungry,
they'll ignore me
and grab the corn anyway!
(So far that hasn't happened - but I can hope!)
In the meantime,
I can witness their breathtaking leaps
from branch to branch -
from as high as 30 feet above the ground - without a net!
And they think nothing of hanging by their tails
to pluck the seeds from the highest birdfeeder.
(Ouch-that must hurt!)
For a truly awe-inspiring demonstration,
choose a window with a street view
and focus your eyes on the high wires!
(You may be "sure footed"
but these guys take balancing to new heights!)
Fall can be as interesting as Summer,
so sit back and enjoy the show!
