How To's on Pet Care
Dogs
Dogs are like people. They need to be treated right and respected. They will return the owner's love and respect with loyalty.
Some dogs may become sick after a long life, or as a puppy. Types of unusual behavior that may signal an illness in your dog include:loss of appetite, loss of interests in their surroundings ( i.e: the owner, kids, other pets, toys, ect...) staying in dark, secluded places; scratching and or chewing its feet, or skin frequently; discharge from the eyes; red, infected, inflamed or cloudy eyes; frequent head shaking and ear scratching; bad breath odor and swollen gums; hair that has a harsh feel or a dull texture; flaky or dry skin; potbelly or real thin; blood in urine; mucus or blood in the stools; repeatedly vomiting over several days and unusual bumps under the skin.
*If you see any of these signs, consult your vet ASAP!!!
Another health problem is obesity. Obesity is the largest health problem among dogs. It causes problems for dogs, just like it does for humans. Cardiovascular and respiratory systems are affected by obesity. A veterenarian can help determine if your dog is obese. They can also give your dog medicine for this problem.
If you keep your dog physically active, you will help them stay fit and alert. A dog that enjoys walks, and playing is less likely to get bored and become mean. Also, exercise reduces stress for you and your dog!
Dogs are very sociable animals, and they love to play. Playtime is a great way to get to know your dog better. The better you know your dog, the more likely you'll be able to recognize unusual behavior caused by illness. By playing with you, your dog learns what behavior is allowed and when it is not allowed. Just remember, they are having so much fun, that they don't realize that they are learning!!!!
