Pirongia Clydesdales - The horses can be visited in nearby Pirongia village for educational talks and rides. Alternatively, the horses can come and visit your group at the lodge - for a small extra cost. Horse Trekking - There are two horse trekking outfits situated around Pirongia Mountain, these are available for smaller groups to enjoy the mountain and views upon horseback. Alexandra Redoubt - This is sited in Pirongia Village and is of interest to those seeking to combine the history of the area with a stay at the lodge. Waitomo Caves - These are a 45 minute drive away and can be used to explore the geological forces prominent in the area. There is also the famous 'Glow Worm' cave and Ruakauri Bush Walk at Waitomo. For the more adventurous there is always caving OR black water rafting.
