The "French" Indians
French people who joined the Indians at Caughnwaga, were adopted by them,
or had relations with them.
Catherine ?, mother of Andrew Montour, was the daughter of a French
governor and an Indian. She was born in New France. She was
carried off by the Iroquois and adopted by them.

Louis-Antoine de Bougainville
- born Paris, France, 13 XI 1729, son of Pierre-Yves de Bougainville and Marie-Francoise d'Arboulin
- aide-de-camp to General Montcalm in the French and Indian war
- in connection with his martial duties, visited Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes July 9, 1757
- visited Caughnawaga July 10, 1757, when he was adopted into the turtle clan
and given the name Garionatsigoa, meaning "great angry sky."
- relationship with Celuta, daughter of a chief at Caughnawaga
- a son, Lorimie-Nuage Lointain, born summer 1758
- married Flore-Josephe Longchamp de Montendre, from a noble Breton
family, 27 XI 1780 at Kerdreho near Plouay, just north of Lorient, Bretagne, France.

Claude-Guillaume-Nicolas de Lorimier
- born 4 IX 1744 at Lachine, island of Montréal, New France.
- adopted? by the Iroquois / Mohawk at Caughnawaga and
received the name "Teiohatekon," meaning
- relationship with Louise Keller-Schuyler, an Iroquois,
whom he married 26 VI 1783, possibly at Lachine.
- married Marie-Madeleine Claire BRASSARD-DESCHENAUX, daughter of
Joseph, seigneur of Beaumont, and apparently an Iroquois as well,
23 III 1793, location unknown.
- married Mohawk woman Anne McGregor, 27 II 1801 at Caughnawaga
- died at Caughnawaga 5 VI 1825. Buried two days later.
