Who I Am
I'm Charles Philippe Pouliot, the organist, computer programmer and
Linux enthusiast.
My family ancestry
My father's is of French-Canadian ancestry, my mother, Eastern
European. The Pouliots of North America are all descended from one
Pouliot, named Charles Pouliot, who came to Quebec from France after
1650. I myself am a descendant of the eleventh generation of Charles Pouliot.
I was named after him, although my parents did not know the exact lineage at the time I was baptized.
All my grandparents were born in the United States. All my
great-grandparents were born outside the United States. So I am the third
American-born generation on all sides of my family.
My interests
I am an avid learner, and constantly study new things, especially
in computing. I make heavy use of the internet, particularly through
the search engine Google.
However, I do other things in my free time besides studying and
learning about computers. I enjoy music, both practicing and
listening. I play organ, and love organ music the most, especially
masters such as Dietrich Buxtehude, J. S. Bach, and Cesar Franck.
My favorite non-organ music:
- 1812 Overture by Peter Tchaikovsky
- Marche Slave by Peter Tchaikovsky
- The New World Symphony by Anton Dvorak
- The Planets by Gustav Holst
- Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky
- Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky
- The Water Music by George Handel
I also like to discuss and debate politics, religion, and philosophy with
close friends.
In the future I will have opinion and discussion pages.
