Happy-go-lucky city kids go up to the mountains to drink, have sex, and smoke pot. Everything is cool until they are attacked by the local bum, who has been infected with a flesh-eating virus that can be caught very easily. Everyone becomes paranoid, not knowing if they have the virus, or someone else does. The hillbilly townsfolk find out and they present the easiest solution: kill them all. Oh, and a dog chases people.

For a lame idea this was a pretty good movie. When I say lame I refer to the whole concept of running from a virus, "WATCH OUT IT’S THE COMMON COLD, AHHHH!" It’s one thing to have a virus turn someone into a zombie-like creature (28 Days Later) and another to just have a virus eat away at you (Cabin Fever). The audience can’t really be afraid of a virus because there’s nothing the victim can do to fight back. Think about it, how do you stop a VIRUS?….hmmm…. you know, medical science has spent years trying to figure that one out. So if you know the answer, you might want to let them know about it.

I have to give Cabin Fever credit, though. Like I said, this wasn’t a horrible movie. The gore was pretty good, but the bloody sex scene was even too much for me. Watching this movie, I know why Peter Jackson liked it (it had many elements from his early horror days, the director must have been inspired, it shows).

Some other good things: the acting was as good as it gets in a movie like this. Evilcam did make a cameo in this movie (hurray!!). For those of you who don’t know what Evilcam is, it's the point of view of Evil if it where chasing a person, (made very popular in Sam Raimi's Evil Dead Trilogy). But in this movie it was ANGRY EVILCAM!!! A very nice touch.

And I have to mention Pancake Boy. My God, I almost peed my pants when he broke out the ninja moves. I won’t give too much away, but renting this is worth that 20 second scene. Trust me.

All in all, this was a pretty good movie and worth renting when it comes out on video. But honestly, once was enough for me. I just hope they don’t come out with a sequel, it would kill the dignity this movie had. Just leave it where it is, boys.
