Hypercube is the story of a group of strangers who find themselves trapped in a mysterious 4-dimensional, maze-like hypercube. As the story progresses, you begin to learn the terrible nature of the hypercube and each character's shocking connection to it, or some crap like that. What comes out is a giant, 4-dimensional vortex that sucks up plot, character development, and any trace of goodness out of this movie and any movie within 20 meters.

They say that if you take a million monkeys, give them a million typewriters, in a million years, you'll get Hamlet. Well, they were apparently a few monkeys shy of a million, and they only had 30 minutes to crank something out. What these underfed monkeys produced was a script devoid of all those things like cohesion, plot, or character development. The dialogue feels contrived and predictable, never really going anywhere or achieving anything.

The characters are all typical science fiction stereotypes. You have the crazy murderer, the friendly idiot, and even a pair of handicapped math whizzes. What makes these people special is not their perfect adherence to accepted norms but their total lack of acting ability. The fact that no one in this movie is able to convincingly display emotion without sounding horribly insincere or over the top doesn't help the miserable script very much.

Now, it's not all bad. The movie is actually kind of funny, when you realize that 90% of the budget went to the mediocre CG, which was cool at times. In addition, occasionally the movie throws something so absolutely stupid out there, you can't help but laugh. Still, if you want to save money, take a crap in a clogged toilet and try to flush. It's about as entertaining as this movie could ever be.
