What can I even say? Another night, another slasher flick. You've seen this already, whether you rented Final Stab, Bloody Murder, or any of the other million slashers out there. So originality gets 0/5. As far as that acting stuff, it's pretty good for a no-name slasher. Blood effects are good. The direction’s not bad, though I wonder what possessed DeCoteau to open four scenes in a row with shots of trees. And we see a new camera motion: boat cam. The camera tilts back and forth at times...I wondered how long before I got sea-sick. The writing is exceptionally mediocre, never once daring to break away from the slasher formula we're used to. The killer is exactly who you expect. You can tell from the beginning who will die and how. But you pretty much know how this movie's going to go down just from looking at the cover. Final Stab isn't bad. There's just not much to say about it. It's one more off our list, and we're better for it. I still haven't gouged out my eyes, which I guess is a good thing.... |
