When a trespasser is killed next to a scarecrow his soul enters the thing and he is reborn. He then goes on a murderous rampage, part for revenge, partly to hunt for his girlfriend who he also hopes to make a scarecrow. And there is much blood shed...

This is one of those movies I really wanted to like. The spirit was there, and it looks like they tried hard (they even got Tony Todd, somehow). The finished product, though, is not great.

Here are some things I learned from Scarecrow Slayer:
-Tony Todd is that much cooler for acting in a movie with such a small budget.
-Even when you have some relatively good actors (not to mention Mr. Todd), the movie can suffer a lot from the few horrible ones. And, oh...there were some horrible actors.
-"Super-great" should never be said again.
-Evil murderous scarecrows look like members of Slipknot.
-Women who are seven months pregnant don't have bellies.
-Whiny people getting squished by doors is always funny.
-Scarecrows know kung fu.
-Camera glare can result in phantom cars in the sky.
-Even in low-budget movies, those "is it really dead?" scenes can be suspenseful if done right.
-Wood chippers run without fuel, 24/7. They are also strategically placed, just in case a climactic battle breaks out by one.

Well, there it is. Scarecrow Slayer, though not all that original, has a good amount of potential. It could be a fairly entertaining movie, but senseless scenarios, certain bad actors, and technical and continuity problems hit it pretty hard. Although this movie wasn't very good I am still interested in its prequel, Scarecrow. Let's hope that turns out a little better...
