Festival of Bastet

A description of a festival at Bubastis, as told by Herodotus :
"When Egyptians travels to Bubastis, they do it in this manner: many men and women are sailing together. Some women shake their rattles and some men blow their pipes during the journey, while the others sing and clap their hands. If they pass a town on the way, some of the women go ashore and shout and jeer at the local women, while other women dance and create a disturbance. They do this at every town along the Nile. When they arrive at Bubastis, they begin the festival with great sacrifices, and on this occasion, more wine is consumed than during the rest of the year."
