Merenptah

Merenptah was the fouteenth son of Ramesses II, but because of his fathers long life, he was the one to become pharao in his fifties. He had been an active with the militry as a prince, and this helped him as a pharao.
At the end of Ramesses II rule, the sea people and the libyans had come across the egyptian borders, running from famine in there own countries. This soon became an invasion of the Delta, led by the libyan chiefMeryawy, who was sure of succes. But he soon became wiser, minutes before he became dead. For six hours Merenptah's archers brought death to the invaders, and then came the feared chariots, ending the invasion plans. The battle is recorded at Karnak.
The Israel Stela is also associated with Merenptah. The stela records a skirmish in Palestine and mentions Israel. This is the only known mention of Israel in Egyptian monuments, and confirms that Israel was established in their own domain at the time of Merenptah’s reign.
