Parents: Students do not need access to a computer at home, although having a computer is helpful. Students will be given ample time to complete the assignments using school resources. Please do not feel obligated to buy technology resources.

The Internet is a great tool for research. However, not all websites are good sites to find information on. The following websites provide some good search engines, as well as inportant information on evaluating websites and citing sources.
When working on the Internet, you need to make sure you are safe. Before students can use the Internet at school, they must read the Acceptable Use Policy and sign the form. Protecting your privacy on the Internet is also important, and students need to become aware of the risks they face when getting onl ine. In addition, teachers will provide permission forms if any student work is to be posted on the Internet, with strict guidelines to protect the student't confidentiality. When using technology and the Internet, especially in projects and presentations, we must be aware of the rules set down for using other people's material. Plagarism carries very serious consequences, as does breaking copyright laws. Fair Use guidelines are a set of rule that allow students and teachers to use certain amounts of copyrighted materials in presentations and activities.
