Ditsi Carolino
is an independent documentary director-producer who has gone a long way since earning a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of the Philippines in Diliman in 1982. She first made her mark with the television show, The Probe Team, before she proceeded to concentrate on commissioned work. Her association with various NGOs is the impetus to her filmmaking. She had a hand in a number of the industry's most acclaimed contemporary documentaries. Prior to Minsan Lang Sila Bata which won for her best documentary at the 15th annual FAP awards, she had been honored with the same prize in the same category for the same work at the Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video. The Filipinos of Miss Saigon which she completed in 1993 was similarly awarded both at the FAP and the CCP. She is also behind Masakit sa Mata, Liberating Coops and No Time for Play which are all award-winning.

Ditsi Carolino got a degree in Sociology at the University of the Philippines. She began her career doing photography and slideshows for grassroots communities for five years. Since attending a film workshop in 1991, she has directed documentaries, many of them on the lives and struggles of the poor. Films include: Masakit sa Mata (co-dir, 91), Manggagawa, Kamanlilikha (91), Trails to an Answer (92), Dapit-hapon sa Tambakan (93), Pinakatagong Lihim ng Simbahan (94), Liberating Coops (94), Keeping the Coop Fire Burning (95), No Time for Play (96). Her documentaries, notably the ones on children, have won awards in the Philippines.
