has conceived storylines, written scripts, dabbled in production design, acted before the moving camera prior to finally graduating to directing. He is also into painting and portrait art as well as journalism (he currently edits three Tokyo monthlies catering to Japan-based Filipino workers, namely, Kabayan, Dito't Doon; Philippine Digest; Philippine Artist Folio). But his true love ever since his Paete days has been theater. He worked with the Arena Theater Guild during its last years and the Peta during its early years. He founded Mindanao State University's Sining Kambayoka which pioneered the flourishing theater movement in the South. For his theater credentials, he was honored this year with the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award by the City of Manila. He was also a recipient of previous nominations and citations for his various works for film. His first directorial job was for an episode in the latest installment of Shake, Rattle and Roll this year. Mama, Dito Sa Aking Puso afforded him the chance to direct his favorite actress, superstar Nora Aunor. His third project as film director, Kahit Hindi Turuan Ang Puso, is now in the can.
