The local film industry suffers a great loss with the passing of movie queen Nida Blanca. UP Film Center honors her memory with a showcase of her select films that hallmark her undeniable acting prowess, solid contribution to the national film legacy and dazzling versatility evinced all throughout a royal career spanning half a century.

The Film Center of the University of the Philippines will hold a special showcase of films starring Nida Blanca as a way of honoring the late veteran actress and former movie queen. Choice films that hallmark Nida's great performances on the big screen and represents highlights of a versatile career spanning five decades will be shown.

Natoy Catindig's Walang Sisihan (Dalisay, 1962) - one of the vintage comedy classics for which the romantic tandem of Nida and former matinee idol Nestor de Villa is most famous - opens the cinethon tribute on Monday, November 26, at 7 p.m.

Magdusa Ka (Viva, 1986) directed by Eddie Garcia for which Nida scored a grand slam of best supporting actress awards continues the screening series on Tuesday, November 27, at 4 p.m. It will be followed at 7 p.m. by Lino Brocka's Miguelito-Ang Batang Rebelde (D'Wonder, 1985) for which Nida bagged a quartet of best actress trophies from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, the Philippine Movie Press Club, the Catholic Mass Media Awards and the Film Academy of the Philippines.

Maryo J. de los Reyes' Saan Darating ang Umaga (Viva, 1983) and Jeffrey Jeturian's Sana Pag-ibig Na (Regal, 1998) cap the three-day cinema showcase on Wednesday, November 28, at 4 and 7 p.m. respectively. Saan Darating ang Umaga earned for Nida best actress nominations from all the country's award-giving bodies. Nida finally won after numerous nominations her very first best actress award from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences for Sana Pag-ibig Na which also gave her another Star Award for best actress from the PMPC.
