 PLAYGIRL

Yet another look at the flesh trade, this time as seen from the eyes of a jaded mother-and-daughter prostitute tandem - one on her way down, the other still ascending. Both, on an inevitable collision course with heartbreak and urban decay.

Playgirl has the singular distinction of being one of the earliest Filipino films to be screened by the Toronto Film Festival, where it won accolades for its "extraordinary performances ... and delicately nuanced situations in which the characters and the environment resonate with emotions in a universe of unspoken subtext."
