| Amid the revolutionary ferment in Manila stirred up in large part by his anti-colonial writings, man of letters and doctor of medicine Jose Rizal is exiled by Spanish authorities to far-flung Dapitan. There in the backwater town of the province of Zamboanga in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, he shall find his ladylove and begin to heed his destiny as a hero.
