Saranggola (The Kite)

| Homer Agustines is a motorcycle cop who often draws escort duty for bigtime politicians. He has a ten-year-old boy named Rex who idolizes him. Returning home one day from a humiliating experience, Homer takes out his frustrations by drinking. In an act of rage upon seeing a boy who makes the mistake of flying his kite on his roof, Homer shoots at the boy. Unknown to Homer his son has witnessed the violent act. |
Winner of various awards at the 1999 Metro Manila Film Festival and won for Ricky Davao the Best Actor Award at the1999 Cinemanila International Film Festival. The film is also the Philippines’ official entry to the following film festivals: Moscow International Film Festival, Best Foreign Language Category at the U.S. Academy Awards and at the coming Indian Film Festival 2000.
