Virgin Forest Towards the turn of the last century, the ethnic Tagalogs in the central plains of the country's largest island are caught between revolution against Spain and war with the American agenst of "benevolent assimilation", which took the early form of running after the Filipino revolutionary general Emilio Aguinaldo, who had elected to escape to the North along teh island's Pacific coast, on the other side of a mountain range the Sierra Madre which protected the plains from the typhoons which came seasonally with the southwest monsoon. The effects produced in a growing political vacuum are scarcely less crippling than the storms and the dipterocarps where the Tagalogs plodded until overtaken by fatigue and treason. 1982 Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Awards for Best Production Design and Best Musical Score.
