Waiting In The Wings
(Short/Experimental Film)

by Charles R. Uy

The story of one girl's quest for self-fulfillment and self-actualization within the confines of a traditional Filipino-American household, this short subject proves to be an eloquent dramatic piece on the Fil-Am experience. Tamera de Jesus is a typical young adult caught between her artistic callings and the exigencies of being a dutiful daughter. Her heart tells her to pursue a career in dance while her father pushes her to become a doctor. Her dilemma is aggravated by the convenience of having just to follow the career path dictated by one's loved ones as opposed to the uncertainties of excelling in one's preferred field. Rona Figueroa who played Kim in Broadway's Miss Saigon and is currently Eponine in the National Touring Company's Les Miserables is cast in the principal role. Acclaimed stage director and thespian Behn Cervantes essays the part of the father.
