Chatsworth, Durban - Manning Rangers slumped to yet another Castle Premiership defeat, losing 1-3 to Moroka Swallows at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Friday night.

The teams were level 1-1 at halftime.

Rangers were a shadow of the side that only a few weeks ago were top of the log and seemingly headed for a second championship title. Sloppy defensive work was the main cause of their home defeat, with goalkeeper Grant Johnson taking little of the blame. Rangers, however, were without five regular players through injury and suspension, but were always chasing the rampant Swallows, determined to avoid relegation.

When Rangers scored first in the fourth minute through striker Keryn Jordan, there was little to suggest the looming defeat.

Swallows got on level terms in the 24th minute through winger Mark McVeigh and had to work hard before they went ahead in the 76th minute through midfielder Jakhonia Cibi.

Things got worse for Rangers when striker Cisa Nombe put the final nail in the coffin a couple of minutes from time. Rangers have lost to Chiefs and Vaal Pros in recent weeks. - Sapa
