Manning Rangers star wingback, Innocent Chikoya possible the best left footed midfielder in the country at the moment, is on the verge of signing for star studded Orlando Pirates. Talks between the two clubs are at an advanced stage for the services of Chikoya and his teammate Clinton Larsen, a former Bafana Bafana player.

Hit by the worst silverware drought since Irvin Khoza rebuilt the club, Bucs are already preparing for next season.

"We spoke to Rangers but could make any final decisions until after their all-important match against Kaizer Chiefs", Khoza said.

Rangers PRO, Experience Mngadi denied negotiations were going on between the two clubs. Khoza also said that a sizeable number of the members of the current Bucs squad would be offloaded at the end of this season.

"We will announce our transfer list in due course. We have started earnest preparations for next season. Things have to improve next year. ", Khoza said.

Chikoya will surely add the required muscle out on the left. It has been some time since they had real strength on the left after the likes of Eric Chauke and later Ernest Makhanya had set high standards. Bucs also donot have what could be confidently called a dead-ball specialist. Larsen himself is no pushover, having a high workrate which was rewarded with not only a call up , but a cap against Holland during the hard Clive Barker era. With the quality of players in their current team, it was not surprising that coach Victor Bondarenko, who was recalled from Mozambique by popular demand could not clinch the trophy this season, a fact that has been very hard to accept by The Ghosts.
