The Ghost of Charnwood House
is seriously displeased. However, we will not leave the poor unsuspecting victim to his fate (even though he has only himself to blame) because he does have two young children and it would hardly be fair on them.

The story is this - the day that the tenants moved out, he tipped several tons of rubble (his demolished garden sheds and green- house) into the garden at Charnwood

"skating on thin ice"

House. On being challenged almost immediately, which he didn't expect, he claimed it was in retaliation for garden rubbish dumped by the tenants 18 months previously, in his garden. (It was different tenants then and what a coincidence that he waited until the house was empty. He claimed it was just that - coincidence! Hmm. 18 months after the event, eh?) Obviously, this is not a reason that holds water from any angle and will cut no ice with the Ghost (who we believe now might be Mr C. A little further digging - if you'll pardon the term - into the history of the house, suggests him as quite a strong possibility. We are now on the track of the Thompson's Leather Company connection).
Anyway, the foolhardy neighbour is trying desperately to march on to his doom, but we think we'll clear the rubble and send him the bill. I expect he won't pay up until a court orders him to, but that'll be a better result for him than if we left things to take their own course - even supposing that a court action would be injurious to him in his job as an undercover detec... ahem... builder, I mean.
The village is not over impressed by his camouflage skills either.
But not to worry, the grapevine has it that he will be leaving very soon.

And by the way, Charnwood House is up for sale. I would put in a photo - we have an absolute beauty of the house from the back, in Summer with the clematis and roses out and the Eucalyptus in full flight - but Mr C (if indeed it is he) is apparently still suspicious of modern technology and the pictures will not digitise. I expect he will be okay before long. He always takes a while to adjust and he has no objection now to computers throughout the house. We've even had a laptop running on the terrace. [NB some do photos appear in the Photo Album]
He is still absolutely firm on seances and ouija and will have no truck with them at all on the premises. We always assumed that to be because of the children - with it having once been a school-house. He keeps it very safe.

Let me know of any further information and I'll post it here.
