Opening the School

(Undated, between Aug 9 -17, 1916)
Sir
I have the honor to inform you of the Meeting of the school board held on Aug 5th it was decided to take the necessary steps to open the residence of Mr. Walter Street on the N.W. Sect 36 Tp 53. R4 w5 as a school (which you approved of in a recent letter) for six months, and to request that you will be pleased to obtain a Protestant Teacher to commence duty about 1st Sept. at a Salary not to exceed $60.00 Sixty dollars per month accomodation available on the school premises with a Kitchen attached is more suitable for a male teacher. The probable pupils will be 2 males and possible 5 females all of one family who live a half mile distant.

I have the honor to inform you that the family of seven children in this district of which we where about to open the School for are about to move to Edmonton in a week or two and in consequence of them moving the School will not be needed. Their being no more children of School age in this district.
And if you would be pleased not to engage a teacher at present

I have the honor to inform you that the Sylvan School District no 1739 held their annual Meeting on Jan 29th 1917 in the Sec Treasurers residence. the Meeting was not well attended owing to severe weather The Minutes were read also the Auditors report. Mr Walter Street elected Chairman of Trustees in lieu of Mr George Buck resigned on leaving the District
