Building the New Schoolhouse - 2

November ,1920
Capt. L.H.Hurst - Calgary
Sir
Our Board thoroughly examined your Building containing our School furniture and found it to be impossible to remove the building bodily. It can only be moved by taking it to pieces.
So, according to the terms of our offer, which you accepted, the offer is dead. The Trustees are sorry.
Thanking you for your courtesy.
Yours respectfully

Sir
Our Board has purchased a good Building in Wabamun Village for Sylvan School. It is lumber with shingle roof. -
The Chairman who owns SW36-53-4-5 has generously offered to give sufficient land, next to main Government road, for the purpose in order to help our poor district. School Inspector Brook saw the site and appeared satisfied. The Trustees and Taxpayers with your approval purpose moving up this Building, bodily as soon as snow arrives. Will you kindly write to me at once?
Yours respectfully

Sir
I thank you for yours of the 6th.
The proposed site is at the SE corner of SW36-53-4-5. It is a corner of the Chairman's 160 acres. We have paid $321.75 for the Wabamun house, belonging to Mr. C.H. Dunn.
Of course, the moving, fixing up, and painting well will be some considerable expense, but Building is cheap. It is a 5 room house, two of the rooms being an east wing, suitable for a Teacher's quarters, when batching. Our board intends to take out two partitions. Then we shall have a large schoolroom, 40 ft. x 14 ft. with doors and 7 windows. Height of Building from ground to eaves 9 feet. Schoolroom height 10 feet.
Yours respectfully

Yesterday I put the chain around the plot of ground offered by our Chairman for the School. I enclose diagram with measurements.
We know it is not 3 acres but it is an ideal spot, with high ground for the Building.
The Trustees, and the resident Taxpayers are convinced that here we have more than sufficient ground for the children who will ever live in the Sylvan School District, as we shall probably never have more than 10 or 12. Only 6 there now.
In the past, we have been confronted with so many obstacles and difficulties that our Board earnestly hopes there will be no other hindrances thrown in our way. (end of p.71)
2) We, now, have a real live Board, every member of which is determined, with your help, Sir, to at once provide educational facilities for our Children.
Arrangements are already made to move up the purchased Building as soon as the snow arrives. This will entail considerable trouble and expense, and we hope you will authorize us to place the Building on this spot, so that there may be no more delay.
If you determine to send out an Inspector we hope he will come quickly, so that we can get to work immediately.
I am Sir
Yours respectfully
