One of my biggest accomplishments was recently, I built my own home. This is the first time I built a house. My earlier experience with building was my storage shed at my apartment. This is a custom built 2600 sq. ft. heated traditional floor plan. With the 3rd floor attic, bonus room, front and back porches, the house totals well over 4400 sq. ft. There is 4 bedrooms, 2 walk-in closets, 3 1/2 bathrooms with ceramic tile floors, extremely large living room, fireplace upstairs & downstairs, and a 2 car garage on a 1 1/2 acre lot outside the city limits. I was the general contractor and the builder, with help from sub-contractors. My primary responsibility was coordinating the materials and the labor through the various phases of completion, inspections and compliance of the building codes. My secondary responsibility was to reduce cost by doing any of the construction I was capable of. All of this while working a full time job with mandatory overtime, twelve hour rotating shifts.
