Golden Nugget= A spiritual truth of much value.

April 25, 2000

Since God is working so much in my life I decided to make a page on it and share with you the golden nuggets that God has shown me. Most of these come from a book that I have dug into called, "The WONDERFUL SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE" by Charles Stanley. I hope that as you read this your heart be stirred and mind be squeezed and that your spiritual fervor receive a spiritual blast!

I have been reading the book above, and it is a blessing. I encourage you to get a copy if possible. I got my copy for about twelve dollars. Mr. Stanley is one of my favorite authors. I think that his preaching and teaching are in line with the word of God. Below are some spiritual truths that I have received by reading his book. Also I added some other nuggets I have picked up and decided to share.

Ever wonder why it is so easily for a child to accept things? I have. I have thought about it and have come to this conclusion:
The older you get the more knowledge and opinions and logic and reasoning you get. So when it comes to having faith it is much harder. Why? Because our logic starts to get in the way and we start thinking, "What if..." and "Why would..." and "How come...". You see? Small children don't have all that to get in their way. They can trust so much easier. No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 18:3 that unless we become like children we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven! See, it ALL GOES BACK TO FAITH. Faith, faith, faith. As a close friend has said to me. "So simple, yet so hard."

BY TAKING THE PROMISES IN GOD'S WORD AND LIVING THEM IN OUR DAILY LIFE.

This dawned on me. It is so true. We should read the Bible, understand it's meaning... and then LIVE IT! So many times we read the Bible, and few times we actually take the time to understand it... How often do we act on it!? I think that this is a key to open the door to abundant living.

John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

I think that in order for you to receive this peace then you must not be troubled and afraid. When you are not troubled and afraid then will you receive His peace. I think that this peace is not a gift to be taken but obtained. In other words, you can't just pick up peace like you do the morning newspaper. You have to do something to get it. You have to not be troubled or afraid, and then it will come. How do you do this? Trust in the Lord to protect you and work everything out. (A simple truth, but helpful.)

-No matter what EXTENT God may work, whether a miraculous healing or a simple breeze on a hot day, His INTENT is the same.-
See God can show you his power in healing by his power over sickness. He can show you his power in a breeze, him controlling the weather. Although the healing power may seem bigger than the breeze that you pray for when really needed, their intent, which is to bring you closer to him, are the same...

Speaking of miracles. They happen every day. You just need to be sensitive to them and look out for them. A baby's birth is a miracle. I have learned that. A precious miracle. It is a miracle every time a crop grows. See, we can plant and we can water the crop, but to make it grow? God can only do that. (see 1 Corinthians 3:6)

Jesus is coming soon! And as we live may we always live the life so that when he comes he may not find us indulging the sinful nature.

Picture this: You are in a building that is unfamiliar to you. You have a scheduled meeting in a room, but you have no idea where it is. A man is to the left leaning up against the wall with a magazine in his hand.

"Excuse me, sir, but could you tell me where room 105 is," you ask him.

"Why certainly," He exclaims. He takes you down a hall... After many turns and stairs and steps your finally arrive at room 105.

Just like room 105 we have the room-of-God's-Will-for-us waiting for us to come in. The Holy Spirit is the man that guided us to the room. He is our Guide. Just as you depend on the man to get you to room 105, we must depend on Him to lead us. We must totally trust Him to take us to the right place. We must follow him daily. It takes two things: dependence and trust.

By this point I hope that I am not confusing you! Bare with me, and read on...

Suppose it's your birthday and your friend gave you balloon for a gift. Let's just say! Okay, and so you are totally balloon illiterate. (Play along with me now.) You don't know anything about them. Never seen one before.
"Wow thanks!" you say, "It's so neat."
You ran off to play with it, just as your friend was about to explain to you how it works... You toss it to the ground. "It doesn't bounce." you think to yourself. You pick it up and throw it. "It doesn't float in the air, nor does it come back to me like a boomerang!"
"Ah! What a lousy gift! It won't bounce. It doesn't float in the air. It can't even come back to me!" you whine.
You then toss it to the ground and walk away.

Crazy story huh? Well, little do we know that many of us Believers act like that every day. Let's translate this story. Instead of it being our Birthday on earth, let's make it our second BIRTH (being born again when we trust in Christ as Lord and Savior). The friend in the story is God. The gift he gives us is the Holy Spirit. We run off right when God is going to help us through a situation. "Quit it, God!" We say, "I can handle this situation on my own." We have tossed the gift on the ground. We throw the gift. Toss it again. The gift is useless, because we try and use our knowledge to try and figure life out. But what we need to do is go back to our Friend and get directions from Him. He knows what to do. He can help. Don't live life on your own. The Holy Spirit can help. You can't live without Him. Think about it.

John 8:32 says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
In order for you to have the truth set you free, you must KNOW the truth. You can't BELIEVE unless you KNOW.

I am presently memorizing Romans 8. It is really cool. In Christ:

I am not condemned. (v.1)
I am set free. (v.2)
I am fully pleasing to God. (v.4)
I am not only alive, but righteous. (v.10)
I am a son of God. (v.14)

These are just a few of the many things we are in Christ. We, as True Christians, must realize who we are "IN CHRIST", in order to live abundantly.

I think that is all for now. I hope that you picked up at least a few of these golden nuggets. May you treasure them. DIG into God's Word to find these golden nuggets. Live for Jesus! Be bold. Live the life.
