For many years, The Simpsons has been a popular cartoon show, which many people of all ages have enjoyed. It first aired on April 19, 1987, on the Tracey Ullman Show, which began their long-running career on Fox Networks. The Simpsons was created by Matt Groening, who named the characters after his own family. He had a father named Homer, a mother named Margaret (which is similar to Marge) and sisters named Lisa and Maggie. But, Bart was not named after a member of his family. It was instead an anagram of "brat."
