Why Why did you call this site Pigmentally Challenged? Because that is what Dilandau is. He's pigmentally challenged. In other words, he's albino. He has no pigment, meaning he's pigmentally challenged. If you don't understand that now I can explain no more. I actually found the inspiration on the site name on the introduction on the Dilandau-shrine, The Scar. Why did you make a shrine on Dilandau, and not another Escaflowne character? The question is, why not make a shrine to Dilandau-sama. But, I will answer the question... I totally adored Dilandau right from the start of Escaflowne. I can usually tell right away whether I'm going to like a character or not, and this case was no exception. The first time I watched The Vision of Escaflowne I watched the episode when Dilandau gets scarred. I saw him, and instantly liked him. I even owed when he got slashed. So, I adopted him as my favourite, and my opinion has never changed, my adoration has just got bigger and bigger, and now I am making this website. So, why do I like Dilandau. well, I'll be shallow, and then I'll get onto his personality... He's cute. He is though! You can't deny it (unless your a straight boy I guess...). I love his eyes. I just totally adore his eyes. I think they're the best anime eyes ever. I love red eyes for a start, and his are no exception. I just have a particular liking for his eyes. So evil, and they have the kind of depth most anime males do not have. And his hair. I don't know why, but love his hair! It's that nice pretty silver colour, and I love the way the bangs flick up at the sides. It's strangely attractive and cute. His personality. His personality is what really made me like him. Sure, it scares his non-fans, but for the rest of us who adore the guy, it's what really makes him. He's got a very strange personality, no thanks to Van. For one thing, he loves fire. Ha! Who doesn't? I for one also adore fire. And he likes to burn things. Nothing strange about that. I like to burn things too...except for when I burn things it's usually food....and with him it's whole cities. Slight difference there. He's a real killer. He loves to fight. You can really see (and hear...) how giddy he gets during a fight (moero!), and it's basically the thing he lives for. I guess it's not his fault. He was made that way, and his job is to kill people. Anyway, he's great in a guymelef, an excellent swords man, and he enjoys his job (maybe a little too much...) He's a nutcase. But he can control what he's doing. In the first few episodes, he was 'on the edge', but not as strange as he got a few episodes later. Then, along trundles Van, and slashes Dilandau-sama's face open. And that dropped him over the edge. From then on, Dilandau was an official nut case (and we loved him all the more for it) and also had Van on the top of the hate-and-revenge list. I suppose I could forgive Van for slashing Dilandau's face. Dilandau was trying to kill him at the time, and as well as that, I love that scar! I like the way he strokes it, and it adds to his character. Anyway, without it (and Van for that matter) we would never have the Dilandau we know and love. Then later on in the series, Van did a very very nasty thing, which, made me dislike him for the first time (I liked him again later, I just got in a strop with him for this particular incident). Van killed Dilandau's Dragonslayers. And, for one of the first times in the series, we find out Dilandau isn't totally heartless. He got upset over their loss, and even dropped a rose over the edge of the Vione, saying goodbye to them. And, at times like this when his emotions are in turmoil, and he actually shows something oher than his usual personality, he turns (or starts to turn) back into Celena. So, after this incident, he got ill. And then, they went and sent him to those damn sorcerors, and they strapped him to a table, screaming his head off and shouting for his [dead] Dragonslayers, and then they stuck that nasty-looking needle in him. I felt so sorry for him then. I was sort of sat in my seat, hugging a pillow and muttering Poor Dilly-sama whilst rocking back and forth. And, I don't think even his haters couldn't feel slightly sorry for him here. Anyway, that episode I really liked him. I always like the characters I feel sorry for, and, in the whole of the Vision of Escaflowne series, I think he has the crappiest time out of the lot of them. He's had a bad past, and has a bad life. Sniffle, what's not to like? I've gone on far too long... <> Dilandau <> Fanstuff <> Site <> Sign <> Contact <> a.s.c.e.n.d |
