Alex and the Gray Wolf - Part 1Alex grew weary. His trek across the Wolfburg mountains had drained all but the last ofm his strength. Forcing himself onwards, he stumbled in the darkness. Overhead, the clouds parted to reveal the pale, full moon, bathing the forest path in an eerie silver light. From the deep woods there came the sound of animal's paws, padding through the forest. Alex dropped into a low defensive crouch and drew his hunting knife, scanning the woods for any sigh of movement. The foliage rustled gently, disturbed by the passage of the beast.
There came a second sound to Alex's left. He spun round, Knife at the ready. A rabbit leapt onto the path. In a flash of claws and teeth, Alex was knocked to the floor, winded. Rolling over Alex tried to stand and drew his knife, ready for a second attack. His head swam. Warm blood, his own, ran into his eyes. He shook his head to clear the drowsiness that washed through him. It was then that he saw the creature on the path. A large gray wolf. The wolf snarled at him, heckles raised. Alex raised his knife, ready for the wolfs attack. The wolf stood up on it's hind legs and howled at the silver moon-disk high above. Alex's head swam as the creature pounce at him, claws and teeth tearing into his clothing. As the darkness swallowed Alex he though he could hear the wolf laughing in a human voice.. The last thought Alex had before he blacked out was, what was the wolf after? and how could he laugh like that? Unless the wolf was more than a wolf...... Pilot Chapter two to follow.
