I created this tutorial in PSP 7, but I am sure you can use it in all versions from 6 on up.
It is a selections tutorial. As with all my tutorials, whatever you create you are free to
do as you wish with it. This tutorial, however is my creation. Please respect my rights. She was made in PSP 7 . Which you can get here, JASC
I also used EYE Candy Marble on the ball.
This is a very repetitive tutorial and I will not be using many screen shots.
The zip file contains the selections as well as the digitally
painted face, the texture and the hair.
Unzip the selections into a folder where you can find them.
You of course, are free to use your own textures, face, hair, etc.
I always encourage people to experiment and go in their own direction.
REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN
Baby Hoops Girl or Boy
Open a new image 250 X 450, transparent background.
I always like to do the different selections on a separate layer.

These are the colors I used making this little girl, if you want use them or your own.
Add a new layer and
load the first selection ( they are numbered in the order you will use them ) 01_bh_rsock.Decide on what colors you wish you use and flood with a medium shade of that color.
Selections / invert and go to effects / drop shadow
Apply a drop shadow with these settings. H and V set to zero 0, Opacity 100, blur 20,
Use a much darker shade of your selected color, I used black. Deselect.
Using the lasso tool draw around the top 2/3's of the sock and then click on the sock to select this portion. Go to Effects / Textures / Blinds and apply width 3 / opacity 34 using a lighter shade for the blinds effects / I used white.
Deselect and add a noise of 3.![]()

Add a new layer and load the 02_bh_lsock selections. Repeat the above steps for this layer.
Add a new layer and load the 0-2b_bh_socktrim selections. Flood with a contrasting color and then lower the opacity to 75.
Load 03_bh_rundershorts and flood with white or other color of your choice. Invert and add a drop shadow using a light to med gray or other color that goes with your choices, changing the blur to 12. Deselect and add noise of 15.
Load 04_bh_rundershorts and work the same as you did with the layer above.
Load 05_bh_rshorts. Flood with color of your choice. Invert add drop shadow using a darker shade of your color and changing the blur to 20. Deselect and add noise of 3.
Load 06_bh_lshorts and follow the same steps as above.
Load 07_bh_rarm and flood with a light flesh tone and invert and use a darker flesh tone for the drop shadow. Deselect and add noise of 3.
Load 08_bh_ball on a new layer. You can have some fun and make a basketball or a child's
marbled ball. Flood with a color of your choice. I then took mine into eye candy and applied the marble. Just play around till you find something that you like.
Invert and apply the drop shadow using a darker contrasting color. Using a blur of 25-30.Load 09_bh_rsleeve and fill with your choice of color or texture, or use the one I used.
Invert and apply a drop shadow using a dark shade using the same blur.Load 10_bh_shirt and flood with texture then invert and apply the drop shadow using a blur of about 30. On the same layer load the 11_bh_shirtshadow and flood with your darker shade for shadow. Then load the 12_bh_shirthighlights and flood with a lighter shade of your color for the highlights.
Load the 13_bh_head on a new layer and flood with a light flesh color. Invert apply the drop shadow using a darker flesh shade with blur of about 30. Deselect and add noise of 3. Now you can make your own face or use the one that I have supplied. Copy and paste as a new layer and move into place at the bottom of the head.
Load 14_bh_innersleeve and flood with a darker shade of your shirt colors.
Load 15_bh_lhandarm and flood with light flesh. Invert and add drop shadow using the darker flesh with a blur of 7. Deselect and add noise of 3. Now if you want you can add some lines for the fingers and nails. Even some polish if your child is a girl.
Load the 16_bh_lsleeve and flood with the same texture or color as the rest of your shirt.
Invert and apply the drop shadow with darker shade of your color with blur of 20.If you are using the supplied hair, open and copy the hair back. Click on the head layer (the one under the face), then edit paste as a new layer. This will put the hair back behind the face but in front of the head. Next click on the top layer and copy and paste as a new layer the hair front. Play around till your get your hair looking the way you want.
Now you can add drop shadows on the differnt layers if you want. Add as little or as much detail as pleases you.
Now you can merge and tube your little baby hoopster. I hope that you have enjoyed yourself.
