This is for the advanced PSP user with a very
good working
knowledge of the program.
This is my first little dancer and her name is
Kelsey.
She was made in PSP 7 . Which you can get
here, JASC
Eye Candy Jiggle was used on the lace.
Alien Skin
This is Selections, tutorial which you can download
here:
SELECTIONS
** For those having
trouble with the selections
try downloading these
4 smaller zips **
kelsey_one
Kelsey_two Kelsey_three
kelsey_four
Just unzip all of
them into the same folder.
The zip file contains the selections as well as
the digitally
painted face, the dress texture and the hair.
You of course, are free to use your own textures,
face, hair, etc.
I always encourage people to experiment and go
in their own direction.
For a tutorial on making basic hands you can
go here
Lori's
PSP Tutorial Drawing Hands
This is a very repetative tutorial and I will
not be using many screen shots.
There are a lot of layers and you can name them
or not, your choice.
'KELSEY'
Let's begin by opening a new transparent image
300 X 550. You can
flood this layer with your choice of color.
REMEMBER TO SAVE OFTEN
Quick color reference
THE SKIN
Add a new layer for each selection.
The selections are numbered in the order I used
them.
Add a new layer and load the 01 neck and flood
with #B28356,
selections modify / contract by 1 then flood
with #FEDFB8.
Invert / Drop Shadow using these settings
horizontal/vertical 0
opacity 75
blur 21
shadow color #B28356
deselect and add 3 % noise.
You will use these setting for all the flesh
with slight veriations in the blur.
Add a new layer and load the 02 head. Continue
as above.

changing the blur to 5.

rename / head layer.
Click on your retouch tool and use these settings

are touching the face.
With your paintbrush add a few little lines around
the ear for some
definition, then soften.

ARMS / HANDS
I have included the right hand psp file with
the zip for those who feel
uncomfortable trying to make the hands.
I'm sure you will be able
to make better hands than mine. If you
choose to use mine then just copy and
paste as a new layer on top of the arm layer
for the right hand/arm. You can
copy paste and mirror for the left arm/hand if
you choose to do so. Just
slide them into position and merge them together
with their respective arms
and then blend them using the retouch tool with
the same settings as above.
Add a new layer and load 24 right arm. Repeat
for the flesh/skin layers.
Add a layer and load 25 right hand. Repeat
lowering the blur to 9.
Merge these two layers together and soften the
line at the wrist with the
retouch tool using the settings above, blending
and softening.
with your draw tool set on freehand line/
antialias only checked.
using color #B28356 for the forground and background
null, draw in some
finger features.
Using darks and lights of the same colors blend
into a hand.
Add a new layer and load 26 left arm and repeat
as for other arm.
Add a new layer and load 27 left had and repeat
the above.
Repeat the above steps
BODICE TRIMINGS
Add a new layer and load 28 bodice overlay.
Flood fill with the dress tile.
invert/ drop shadow with blur of 17.
On separate layers load 29, 30, 31 bodice trims.
Repeat the steps above.
SLEEVES
Add a new layer and load the 32 left sleeve and
flood fill with the dress tile.
Invert / drop shadow sames as above.
Add a new layer and load 33 right sleeve and
repeat the above steps.
Load 34 and 35 dress sleeve trims on separate
layers. Flood fill with
white and follow the previous steps for the trim.
Here is where you should be now
FINISHING TOUCHES
Almost finished, now... for the fun
stuff... decorating and making her shine.
These are all suggestions.. feel free to play and give your own ideas a try.
Now you can either use the supplied face or create
your own.
paste on top of the head layer if using mine,
and slide into position.
Open the hair back file and paste as a new layer
and bring it down to the
bottom behind the neck layer. Next open
the long hair and paste onto the top.
Add a drop shadow with h/v 0/ blur 2 /
op 100 / color black
Open the hair trim and paste as a new layer,
slide into position.
Click on the sleeve layer and lower the opacity
to 80 % and go to colors
adjust brightness + 20. Do this to both
sleeves.
Click on either arm and select/float and a new
layer using #B28356
with your paint brush paint some crease lines
where the arms joints would bend.
Glaussian blur of 2. Repeat for the other
arm.
Click on the FRONT leg, select/float add a new
layer and with the paintbrush and
using the same color give some indication of
the knee and calf muscle. Repeat the blur.
If you should decide to use tights omit this
step right now and add a new layer and
flood with the color of tights you want, then
lower the opacity to about 70% or
whatever suites your own taste. Then add
a new layer and do the knee and muscle in a
darker contrasting color.
Click on the head layer and add a touch of drop
shadow for depth.
V 9 / H 0 / OP 40
/ Blur 7.4 color #B28356.
Click on the back leg, add a layer and with your
paintbrush using the same color
with the opacity set at 50 and the brush size
about 5 on the brush options. paint a
line following the curve of the top leg and then
add a gaussian blur of 2.
Click on the top leg add a layer and using the
same settings paint a shadow following
the curvature of the skirt, then the blur.
If you think it too dark you can lower the
opacity of the layer.
Click on the back two skirt layers and adjust
the brightness by -20.
Leave the sides alone.
Click on the Front layer and adjust by +20
Click on the bodice overlay and adjust by +20
There, you are finished. I hope that you
