Cedric Pioline has terrific loopy groundstrokes, with power and topspin. He has excellent volleys. He has a steady serve also as shown in his success. He has a good counterpunching game.

Pioline has had a great clay court season, in which he made the Semi finals of the French Open, his home slam. Pioline also made the final of Monte Carlo. Pioline reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open, where he fell to the title winner, Korda. At Wimbledon he fell 13-11 in the 5th set to Rosset. He also fell in 5 sets to 12th seed Bjorkman at the US Open

1997

Pioline beat Rusedski and Stich to reach the final of Wimbledon. He reached the third round of the French Open, where he lost to defending champion, Kafelnikov in 5 sets.

1996

Pioline improved his ranking to be in the top twenty.

1995

Pioline reached the Quarter finals of Wimbledon where he found himself down 2 sets to three time champion Becker. He made a stunning fight back to snatch the 3rd and 4th sets, in tie-breaks. Becker finally held on to win 6-3 6-1 6-7 6-7 9-7.

1994

Pioline fails to live up to expectations placed on him after his great 1993. His results are rather poor.

1993

Pioline reached his first career slam final by defeating top seeded Courier and talented eighth seeded Medvedev. He also reached the quarter finals of Wimbledon to reach a career high ranking in the top ten.
