Rachel McQUILLAN

Rachel McQuillan is a very quiet player and always shows good sportsmanship. At Birmingham, '94, she played Shriver in a rain interrupted match. McQuillan in the resumption of play asked the umpire if she could change seats with Shriver, so she could see her family better for support. At the completion of the match, Shriver abused McQuillan, swearing at her. McQuillan responded by saying that she was old and should retire. Two weeks later they played again at Wimbledon, where they both performed terrifically with Shriver winning 5-7 6-2 8-6.
