The Stage Rig
For about a 3 month period in 1997, I wanted to fly over the heads of people while I preached my poetry. Luckily, I was on my summer break from school and had some money to burn. I built this structure durring that time out of oak beams, reienforced plastic tubing, chain, bolts and barn door hinges. It stands 8 ft tall. and can withstand someone who is 300 lbs ( I am 175). It has an adjustable height, so that it can raise a performer to however high the ceilings are (up to only about 10 ft -with my feet only being about 4ft from the ground) I built it to colapse and fold up, but it still is heavy as hell, and barely fits into my car. I wanted to eventually motorize it, or replace the rear lifting chain with a large spring so that I could bounce about fevorishly, but I never got around to it.
