HISTORY

The town of San Luis was first known as Cabacsa and was established in the year 1735.  Its present name was adopted in 1761, from a certain Doņa Luisa, the wife of the lawyer who defended the town in a land dispute against the town of Pinpin (now Sta. Ana).  Thus, the town was named after St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a Jesuit saint whose feastday is celebrated on June 21.
