Outcomes and Aims of PITY II PITY II - Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice - is a purely voluntary, non profit-making, parent and family support group established in the wake of the organ retention scandal at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, UK. It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families along with establishing a change in the law so that nothing like these dreadful events can ever happen again; and if they do, those responsible are punished by law. Parents and families endeavour to provide support and information for each other and work to ensure that this never happens again. The group has worked closely with the Redfern Inquiry, and has helped to give voice to the full views of all families making sure that all voices, wherever possible, were taken into account in the Redfern Report and its findings. There is a small committee (names and contacts can be obtained by contacting the office listed at the top of the page) chaired by John O'Hare who was elected by the members of the group. The committee meets regularly and its members are volunteers. There are over 600 families involved with the group, although this number is increasing all the time. Each area has one or more co-ordinators, details of whom can be gained at the office.
