WHY?

The meeting we had arranged with Professor John Ashton from the Regional Office of the NHS has had to be re-arranged. We are waiting for them to come back to us with some revised dates for a meeting around the end of May, early June. If you are interested in attending the meeting, please ring the PITY II office. In the meantime, here is a letter from Sheila Rigby about the cardiac survey:

Dear PITY II Member,

Last October we sent out forms to all parents in PITY II, asking for those whose children had been operated on by cardiac surgeons from Alder Hey to fill them out and send them back to me.This was so we could get a true picture of the experiences, both good and bad, of cardiac care at Alder Hey.

We know that since the original form was sent out there have many more people who have come forward, who will not have had the chance to complete a form. So if your child had heart surgery at Alder Hey or Myrtle Street Hospitals, please contact me and I will send a form out to you. Don't forget, we want to know about all experiences, both good and bad.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
